Hi there, and welcome welcome to my new website! So glad you’re here. I am thrilled with the updates and changes that make this space feel like home. I’m sure you already know who I am, but here’s a quick introduction. I’m Grace, the one behind the camera at Grace King
Photography. Within the last year I have really fallen in love with storytelling through photography, and truly making your session unique to you. I never knew what that meant until this year when I delved into getting to know my clients better and making their session an experience rather than a simple photo session.
I am a mom to the two sweetest little darlings. It has been such a gift to know them in this space of motherhood, and experience their souls through our sacred relationship. It is was drives me in my photography to create heirloom photographs that preserve the moments in life that are often too fleeting for my own liking.
10 Things You Might Not Know About Me
Scott and I have been married for 10 years (in December!). A lot of people don’t know that we met because our parents are best friends. We have pictures of us together as kids – who would have ever known! If you ask our parents they would be the first to tell you it was quite a surprise that we ended up together. On our first date, I showed up at Scott’s house and I’ll never forget his mom’s happy dance when she answered the door and it was me haha!
I am the 3rd of 6 kids. Yep a middle child… that might not surprise you actually. I’m so grateful to be super close with my whole family – they are some of my best friends. Which again, if you had asked me if I would ever consider my family to be my best friends 15 years ago it would have been a hard no.
I have a degree in Elementary Education and taught fourth grade for 3 years. There was so much I loved about it, mainly getting to create a safe place for children to learn and be themselves. In the end, the structure and rigor of keeping up with testing wasn’t for me but I learned so much in those few years and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
A goal in life is to travel to all 7 continents in my lifetime. I love to travel and experience new cultures. I did a study abroad in Austria when I was 20 and it was the first time I was truly immersed in a culture. I learned so much and it quickly became a second home. I even got bed bugs and had my laptop stolen by a man named Boris who stayed in the same hostel as us. To say I experienced Europe in its fullest is an understatement!
I hope to one day write and illustrate a children’s book. I have a few ideas in my back pocket and would be thrilled to bring one of them to fruition someday.
I am Danish. I have recently been diving into ways I can return to my roots. I have loved learning about Danish culture. Hygge anyone?
I am an Enneagram 7w6. In a nutshell I live for fun, adventure, and spontaneity, but also have a healthy dose of worry and anxiety to keep me grounded. If you don’t know what Enneagram is YOU MUST read the book “The Road Back to You” by Ian Morgan. It was so fun to learn about each type and dive into what drives people to do the things they do.
Growing up I lived, breathed, and ate ballet. (that was weird putting that in past tense). There was nothing more I wanted in life than to dance en pointe and wear a tutu. Ahhh, a much simpler time of life.
I lived in Omaha, Nebraska for 3 years in highschool. Until then I had never realized how incredible Utah actually is. I could never live anywhere without mountains again!
My favorite ice cream is Rocky Road, but I’m not a scoop into a bowl kinda gal. Here’s a hot tip: you gotta put it in a cup, add some milk, and stir it by hand until it becomes the most delightful handspun milkshake. Try it, you’ll thank me later!
